Donating
The Thrift Store functions as a "mission" that typically donate more than 70% of the items to those in need. Thus, this program always welcomes donations from members of the community. The store gladly accepts:
- Men's, women's, and children's clothing
- Bed linens, drapes, curtains, and blankets
- Towels, washcloths, and dishtowels
- Kitchen appliances, pots & pans, dishes, and cups
- Televisions, VCR's, DVD players, and stereos
- Baskets and picture frames
- Furniture
- Children's toys and stuffed animals
- Children's books and board games
When making a donation, please do the following:
- If possible, neatly fold linens, towels, and clothing
- Ensure that electronic appliances are still in working order
- Drop off items only when the Center is open (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday). Unfortunately, donations left at the Center during non-business hours are too often ruined by inclement weather or destroyed by persons visiting the Center during weekend and evening hours.
- Use the loading dock on the building's south side
- Inform staff that you are making a donation
- Receive a receipt confirming that your donation is tax-deductible If you wish to donate furniture and similar larger items, but cannot transport them to the Center, please call 724-346-5777 for information about having the Center pick it up.
In 2006 we began requesting the donor to also make a $10 donation for this service to offset costs of the gasoline and related truck expenses.
To donate gently used or new interview or work appropriate attire for PA WORKWEAR, we ask the following:
The POPC is extremely grateful and relies heavily on donated items to operate the Thrift Store. If you plan on donating items, we request that they be placed in a box or bag prior to bringing to the Center. Clothes donated to the PA WORKWEAR program are best delivered on hangers.

Making a Monetary Contribution
Monetary donations from individuals, churches, schools, businesses, and other organizations comprise an important part of Prince of Peace's revenue. In 2004, such donations comprised of 15% of the Center's operating income.
All donated funds directly help Prince of Peace to carry out its mission of strengthening families, building community, and reducing poverty throughout Mercer County.
If you are interested in making a monetary donation of any amount to the Prince of Peace Center, please contact Joe Flecher by calling the Center at 724-346-5777 (ext. 12) or by e-mailing him at joe.flecher@princeofpeacecenter.org.
You can also donate to the Center online through the Network For Good web site. After entering your e-mail address and a password of your choice, you will be taken to a safe, secure page where you can donate to Prince of Peace Center using any major credit card.
When you donate online, the name Network for Good will appear on your credit card statement, but rest assured that your donation goes directly to the Prince of Peace Center. Network for Good merely facilitates the transaction.
Your support of our endeavors is greatly valued and appreciated.
